Cool Cat Teacher Blog: Cool Cat Teacher Blog: Dear Tom Part 2: Let's talk about Wikis and Blogs

I use the scheduler feature in blogger so do a few blog posts ahead of time also. I like for my blog posts to come out at least once a day and this means that if I'm busy or away one day, I know it will still get posted. I have learned so much from reading other blogs and I really like the way it invites conversation. I feel like blogging has helped me clarify my thoughts in my own mind and share my beliefs with others. I love seeing your responses to Tom so thanks for sharing this.

Oh, and you have such a good blog too. Some people think that posting ahead
is "cheating" but it is no more than journalists have their stories set to
"hit" at a certain date and time. In some ways blogging is like journalism,
just personal journalism and in first person with the reporting being on our
lives and observations -- so more micro level than macro -- more anecdotal
    than aggregate.

Thank you for expressing that you like the emails. I was just sitting there
thinking that some people might have need of those questions being answered
and may not have asked yet. Thank you for how you've come into the
edublogosphere and lit it up with your encouragement, goodwill, and
insight. I appreciate all that you do and the effort you put into improving
    education!

Hi! I was just reading through your posts, which I do on a regular basis and really appreciate the pointers it gives me. I was wondering about this paragraph -

"Also, I do anything I can to automate. ONe of my powerblogging tools is Diigo. They have a cool link to post feature and everything that I tag "education" goes to Cool Cat Teacher. Everything I tag "ad4dcss" goes to the Advocates for Digital Citizenship Safety and Success Blog. Then, each day it rounds up all of those links and posts them to my blog for me! I used to have to do it through feedburner, but now it goes onto my blog. It is a fast easy way to share because it is through bookmarking which I do anyway."

I'm still new to blogging and don't really understand what you're doing here. Is there any chance you can expand on this at all?

    Thank you
    Hilary

Sure. In Diigo, there are tools. Diigo is a bookmarking service like
delicious -- so, as I go through and bookmark things, I've set up my blog
under tools to do an "autopost." So, once a day, it takes all of my
bookmarks that I tagged "education" are automatically posted.
